"If it's not based in reality, it's just fiction."
My joy of reading works of non-fiction by various authors inspired my own aspirations of becoming a published writer one day--in spite of never setting foot on a college campus or taking a journalism class of any kind.
Happily, I was able to realize my aspiration when the editors at Today's Black Woman published an article I had submitted to their magazine in 1996. Shortly after that, I was offered the opportunity of becoming a regular contributing writer to TBW, as well as a new magazine soon to launch titled Black Men.
Since then, I have gone on to write for Upscale magazine, Heart & Soul magazine, and the Baltimore Sun newspaper.
Following more than ten years of writing for magazines, I set my sight on what was to be my next personal challenge on the literary ladder--writing a work of fiction. Happily, I have been able to realize yet another aspiration.
I have been a repeat guest of author and relationship therapist Audrey Chapman, on her radio show on WHUR-FM 96.3 in Washington, D.C., and have appeared on CBS television affiliate WJZ in Baltimore.
Born and raised in Queens, New York, I now reside in Bel Air, Maryland.
I am represented by the Barrett Books Literary Agency.
